Author: home-lover  |  Category: Home Improvement

Green pool algae is something you would probably rather not have to deal with. But there are times when this little bugger can rear it’s ugly head…and almost always at the worst possible time. When you want to have a swim.

I’m writing this article to give you a fair idea of what your up against.

You would have encountered a green pool at one stage or another. Nearly every pool has!

Green pool algae can happen from a number of things and the main reason is lack of maintenance, not testing the water regularly, poor circulation, bad filtration, not enough sanitizer (chlorine) or phosphates .

There is actually tens of thousands of types of algae and they can all be prevented.

1.Firstly you should always maintain the pool with the proper chemical levels.
2.Keep your pool clean by vacuuming and scooping leaves regularly.
3.Brush the walls and floor of the pool.
4.Keep your filters clean.
5.Make sure the pool is getting plenty of circulation by increasing the pumps running time.
6.Use high quality algaecide.

Follow these 6 simple maintenance steps and your well on the way to always having a sparkling clean pool. A pool will always let you know when its about to turn green. Firstly, the water will lose its sparkle and turn dull. Secondly, your water will start to go a little cloudy. Then the cloudiness of the water will eventually get worse until you start to see it turning green.

If you can catch the green pool water in its early stages…it will never get a chance to go green! If you start to see the first stages, give the pool a quick shock dose of chlorine.

The best way to prevent a green pool in the first place is to always keep the pools chemicals in the right ranges and keep the pool clean all the time.
